We (Paddle and Portage Canoes) have searched the entire world, high and low, for a tough recreational paddle that I was happy to offer. I felt like Goldilocks: "This one's too heavy, this one's too brittle, this one doesn't feel good in the water." Finally, the solution was found at a very reputable American paddle manufacturer called "Cannon Paddles." The result is an incredibly light paddle made of aircraft-grade aluminium with a highly UV stabilised, injection moulded blade and grip. The shaft profile is flattened as it enters the blade face which allows the paddle to feather in the water without too much turbulence. I'm a huge fan of this paddle and am very excited to have found such a great solution for paddlers in Australia.
